Wallelements
made of solidwood
Natural solid wood joined together using an innovative technique. Fastened without glue or metal using a ridge moulding with dovetail edges. Wooden walls that are so airtight that no film is required. Absolute dimensional stability while retaining all the positive properties of solid wood. The solid wood walls can remain visible in their original state. If this is not desired, they can be plastered. All insulation systems can be used. holzius solid wood elements therefore offer all the properties of a conventional wall, but without glue, chemicals or other harmful substances for people and the environment.
The holzius functional principle
holzius wall elements consist of solid wood planks arranged vertically in a row, which are connected to form a multi-layered upright block using the functional principles of “combing” and “moulding”. The wooden planks are positioned in the natural growth direction of the tree, just like in a forest. As wood does not expand axially, i.e. in the direction of the fibres, our solid wood wall elements are settlement-free. The wooden planks are joined together (combed) with a multiple groove and comb joint. The wooden planks are connected to each other in layers with mechanically pressed-in, dovetail-shaped solid wood ridge mouldings. As the ridge battens have a lower moisture content than the planks, they swell after being pressed in and thus hold the construction together. This transverse dovetail ridge moulding is the core of the holzius construction method.
